Still not sure of an exact idea. I want to try and print on wood, so this weekend I am going to try out a couple of things and see if it is even possible. My image is going to be of galaxies and dandelion seeds. I want to make them interchangeable and vague enough that the viewer wont know which is which.

  1. I like the idea! Make sure to check out http://hubblesite.org/gallery/album/ . I used some of these images in our past project. They have really high resolution images since much of your detail will be in the galaxy, I thought this might be helpful. The concept is interesting. I tend to draw my own conclusions from the dandelion and the galaxy already. I think it's a good start

  2. Good idea! I'm glad you're using that beautiful scan you took. Love the idea of printing it on wood, it will add to the natural, earthy feel of it. Let me know what you discover about that! I'm sure I could use similar techniques with my project.

  3. Love the idea. Maybe it could represent how our world is ultimately connected to to our galaxy?

  4. Pretty cool idea, bark is another path if you're interested in printed on alternative substrates. It is already pretty flat and provides a very intriguing texture as the background.

  5. Seeding the universe in a creative manner. Nice. Can't wait to see more!
What if you made the dandelion puff like a supernova?

  6. hmmmm look at you inventing new ways to print and new surfaces to print on! The merging of the organic elements should be nice and I hope you can find a way to print on the wood sounds dope! and I think this approach will definitely fit with your aesthetic. Nice start so far!

  7. I like that you are branching out in using other media to print on. Great concept.

  8. I'll be curious to see how printing on wood will turn out for this project and subject matter. I enjoy the idea of using dandelions as galaxies, but I think that you should definitely add a little something more to the composition to make it most interesting than just a compilation of galaxies and dandelion seeds.

  10. If printing on wood is a possibility I am very excited to see how that turns out! Your ideas are very creative and original. I would just try to focus on a more interesting composition to strengthen your concept.

  11. Hi Alissa

So you didn't get enough punishment on the transparencies of the fireflys and now plan to tackle blowing dandelions. ;-0)

Love the idea and the juxtaposition of the cosmos with the dandelion. Be interesting to see where it evolves.
